MODERN MEDITERRANEAN REnovation, San Francisco

LDP fully renovated this single-family, 1935 Mediterranean-style residence in San Francisco, updating interior spaces and modernizing the home while respecting the existing character. The house was expanded from 3,100 to 4,100 sf by excavating a portion of the original structure on the lower level to create a spacious family room and additional bedrooms.

The kitchen received marble countertops and new appliances, and the master bath prominently features princess white granite. In addition to original hardwood flooring, existing architectural elements of the high ceiling and arched alcoves were preserved in the formal living room. A modern, linear dual-sided gas fireplace between the living room and dining room replaced the more traditional fireplace.
